Liu Jingzhen, chairman of China National Pharmaceutical Group Co Ltd (Sinopharm), led a delegation to Serbia from Dec 2-3.

They met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali, Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo. They also conducted an on-site inspection of the vaccine production facility jointly established by Sinopharm, the United Arab Emirates and Serbia.

In the meeting with President Vucic, Liu said that Sinopharm attaches great importance to cooperation with Serbia. With the support of President Vucic, the cooperation has progressed smoothly. Guided by the instructions from the heads of both countries and the spirit of the comprehensive strategic partnership, Sinopharm will spare no effort to build joint ventures and advance medical service projects in Serbia, and introduce more high-quality products to benefit the local people. President Vucic expressed gratitude to Sinopharm for its assistance in Serbia's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. He stressed the importance of joint ventures and cooperation projects in Serbia in effectively enhancing the health and well-being of the Serbian people.

During the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mali, the two sides held in-depth discussions on the future development of the joint venture. Liu stated that Sinopharm would continue to support the development of the joint venture, living up to the expectations of the Serbian government and people. At the same time, he hopes that relevant government departments in Serbia will support the entry of excellent products from Sinopharm into the Serbian market.

In the delegation’s meeting with Minister of Health Loncar, the minister showed gratitude for the medical supplies and vaccines provided by Sinopharm during the pandemic, stating that the cooperation went beyond the fight against COVID-19 and he hopes that both sides can continue to work together in the post-pandemic era. Liu mentioned that Sinopharm has a complete industry chain in the field of pharmaceuticals and health, with strong comprehensive strength in medical institutions, medical services, hospital construction and drug production. He said he looks forward to continuing the comprehensive cooperation through further discussions with Serbia.

The delegation also visited the Chinese embassy in Serbia and held a meeting with Ambassador Chen. They reviewed the cooperation between China and Serbia in the fight against the pandemic and discussed the cooperation in factory construction in Serbia. Chen said that the previous cooperation has laid a solid foundation for the future. She hopes that Sinopharm will bring more excellent products into the European market, starting from Serbia.

Liu said that Sinopharm would further expand cooperation with Serbia in the pharmaceutical field. It will also focus on boosting cooperation in traditional Chinese medicine to promote traditional Chinese culture and benefit the Serbian people.
