The Beijing Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine Processing Techniques is a modern museum dedicated to the inheritance and development of traditional Beijing-style TCM preparation techniques. Jointly established by the Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Sinopharm Beijing Huamiao Pharmaceutical Co Ltd, it is among the second batch of national bases for inheriting TCM processing technology.
Focusing on the four themes of history, technical inheritance, the essence of Beijing-style TCM and illustrations of national medicine, the museum displays imperial medicine, as well as the exquisite craftsmanship, safety and effectiveness of Beijing TCM processing technology.
The museum opened to the public on Nov 8, 2018. It was approved as a Beijing TCM Culture and Tourism Demonstration Base in April 2019 and was rated as a Patriotic Education Base of Daxing District in December that same year. In July 2020, it completed registration with the Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau and was officially listed as a State-owned museum. In April 2021, it became a Patriotic Education Base of Beijing, and in October 2022, it was honored as a Science Popularization Base in Daxing district.
The museum provides a fully immersive experience by recreating traditional processing scenes for visitors. It employs digital technologies such as VR and holographic imaging to transcend time and space to showcase the charm of TCM processing.
Through curating rare specimens and analyzing the principles of preparation, the museum delves into the distinctive Beijing-style TCM processing techniques and enables visitors to learn about their origin and evolution, as well as the unique processing culture.
