Since 2017, Sinopharm Dongfeng General Hospital has been honored as a National Model Unit. A continuously improved cultural atmosphere has blossomed throughout the institution, providing strong spiritual support for its steady and far-reaching development.

To strengthen cultural guidance and create a cultural atmosphere, since 2017 the hospital has been administered by China National Pharmaceutical Group Co Ltd (Sinopharm), and has become a benchmark for the reform of enterprise hospitals nationwide, exemplifying coordinated development of material, political, and spiritual civilization. 

In 2019, six pioneers of the hospital, including Dai Zongqing, Peng Jieying, and Ling Fuxiang, were awarded the Commemorative Medal for the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China jointly issued by the CPC Central Committee, the State Council, and the Central Military Commission. 

In 2020, at the China Hospital Humanities Brand Summit the hospital was awarded as an Annual Humanities Brand Hospital, and its Party Chief Li Bin, was named Trendsetter of the Year. The critical care medicine team was named the Humanities Innovation Team of the Year and won other honors. 

Passionate about public welfare and social responsibility, as a public tertiary hospital under a State-owned enterprise, the hospital has always adhered to the fundamental principle of being people-centered and the service concept of doing public welfare through medical care. For 20 years, 14 groups of medical experts have been sent to assist in the construction of Gongga County People's Hospital in Xizang. Health poverty alleviation has benefited millions of urban residents. In the anti-COVID-19 fight, the hospital helped cure 122 confirmed patients. Its poverty reduction efforts helped 171 targeted poverty-stricken households in Jiyu village, Zhushan county, Hubei province to escape poverty and become prosperous. They achieved a zero-death miracle in the treatment of more than 60 injured people in a big accident. In rural rejuvenation, they helped Maoba village in Zhushan county to embark on the road to prosperity.
