China National Pharmaceutical Group Co Ltd (Sinopharm) Chairman Liu Jingzhen met with Guyanese President Mohamed Irfaan Ali and his high-level political delegation in Chengdu, Sichuan province, from July 27 to 28.
They visited Chengdu Rongsheng Pharmaceuticals Co Ltd, a company under Sinopharm, and held comprehensive discussions on further cooperation.

During the talks, President Ali expressed sincere gratitude for Sinopharm's support during the COVID-19 pandemic, acknowledging the pivotal role the pharmaceutical giant played in Guyana's fight against the virus.
The president shared his government's commitment to providing the best medical services to the Guyanese people and proposed further collaboration with Sinopharm.
Ali highlighted the opportunities for cooperation in various areas, including developing medical infrastructure, improving healthcare in remote areas, introducing modern medical equipment, and cancer treatment and prevention.
He expressed a keen interest in leveraging Sinopharm's expertise, products, technologies and experience to provide his people with better medical services and further benefit the people of the Caribbean region.
Liu conveyed his appreciation for President Ali and the Guyanese government's trust and support. Guyana, as one of the earliest English-speaking Caribbean countries to establish diplomatic ties with China, is also the first country in the Caribbean region to approve and receive Sinopharm's COVID-19 vaccines, he said.
Liu highlighted Sinopharm's commitment to international cooperation since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing that Sinopharm vaccines have been approved for registration and listing or granted access for use in 119 countries, regions and international organizations. Sinopharm has supplied 3.5 billion doses worldwide for vaccination of populations of 196 countries.
Liu also acknowledged the smooth progress of the six regional hospital projects in Guyana, implemented by Sinopharm's subsidiary, China Sinopharm International Cooperation, with the support of the Guyanese government.
He expressed Sinopharm's eagerness to deepen collaboration with Guyana, contribute its strength in the entire healthcare industry chain and share experiences and wisdom for Guyana's healthcare sector.
