China National Medicines Corporation Ltd (CNMC) traces its roots back to China Medicines Corporation, established in December 1999. Initiated by Sinopharm, it went public on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in November 2002 with a registered capital of 754.5 million yuan ($105.84 million) (stock code: 600511). CNMC has 15 wholly-owned or partially-owned subsidiaries and three joint ventures. It has over 3000 employees in total.

Implementing strategic decisions of its parent company, CNMC has formulated the “146” and “14th Five-Year” strategic plans. With a focus on Beijing, it has extended its reach to the national market. Its core business is pharmaceutical and medical equipment distribution, including direct selling, pharmaceutical distribution, anesthetics and psychiatric drug sales and specialty pharmaceutical industries. It has six distinctive business areas: oral care, specialty retail, diagnostic reagents, logistics services, marketing services and medical services. CNMC aims to build a platform for distinctive healthcare resources integration and to become a leader in the specialty pharmaceutical industry in China.

CNMC specializes in anesthetics and psychiatric drugs, high-end prescription drugs, essential medicines and blood products. Its focus is on Beijing’s market and it also reaches into the national pharmaceutical market. It has more than 13,000 types of drugs, over 2,200 suppliers and more than 2,000 corporate customers from 31 provinces in China. With 15 wholly-owned or partially owned subsidiaries and three major joint-stock companies, CNMC’s businesses include direct selling, pharmaceutical distribution, warehouse logistics, e-commerce, bonded warehousing and the pharmaceutical industry. Its sales volume ranks first among Beijing’s pharmaceutical wholesalers.
