The Traditional Chinese Medicine Formula Granule Popular Science Education Base was constructed by Guangdong Efong Pharmaceutical Co Ltd under Sinopharm’s China Traditional Chinese Medicine Holdings Co Ltd. It is primarily dedicated to disseminating technological knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and the entire industrial chain of TCM formula granules to the general public.
It has been recognized as a popular science education base in Guangdong province, Foshan city and Foshan’s Nanhai district. Additionally, the base has been designated as an industrial tourism cultivation project in Guangdong and received such honors as being named a provincial base for TCM cultural promotion and education and youth science and technology education, as well as a camp (base) of Nanhai district’s young pioneers off-campus practice and education.
The facility encompasses an exhibition space for the reform of decoction pieces and dosages, an intelligent dispensing system showroom, a plaster exhibition hall, a health product experience hall and a decoction piece specimen museum, spanning a total area of 1,100 square meters.
It features six multi-functional popular science education and training conference rooms and a 2,000-sq-m TCM formula granule sightseeing and experimental base, and is equipped with interactive programs.
With 65 full-time and part-time science popularization personnel and 42 volunteers, the base adheres to the principle of public welfare, providing free popular science education and activities for local residents, students and technicians.
Since 2018, the exhibition hall has been open for more than 330 days each year, hosting numerous lectures and conferences and receiving more than 30,000 visitors. It has established such popular science activity brands as "TCM School-Enterprise Cooperation", "Exploring the Marvelous World of TCM", "TCM Planting", "Tracing the Origins of Materia Medica" and "Continuing the Legacy of TCM".
Tailored for different age groups, DIY classes on TCM specimens, sachets, collages and fans, as well as TCM-themed popular science lectures have been held at the base.
