China National Pharmaceutical Group Co, Ltd (Sinopharm), represented by its chairman Liu Jingzhen, visited the University of Macao (UM) on Feb 26, signing a strategic cooperation framework agreement. This agreement aims to deepen collaboration between the two entities and leverage their respective strengths for mutual benefit.

During the visit, Liu introduced Sinopharm's innovative development strategy and emphasized the company's support for the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Guangdong province.

The collaboration between Sinopharm and UM aims to establish a joint research institute focusing on biomedicine, traditional Chinese medicine and health. This initiative seeks to foster integration between industry, academia and research, thereby promoting innovation in the life and health industry within the cooperation zone.

The discussions between the two parties centered on implementing strategic cooperation in specific areas such as biopharmaceuticals, chemical pharmaceuticals, traditional Chinese medicine, and health. Both sides expressed a commitment to realizing project implementation, promoting results transformation and accelerating talent cultivation.
The meeting and signing ceremony signify a comprehensive and substantive partnership between Sinopharm and UM, aligning with the objectives outlined in the 19th CPC National Congress and supporting the "Healthy China" strategy and Macao's "1+4" moderately diversified development strategy.
With the integration and mutual promotion of innovation chains, industrial chains, and talent chains in the medical and health fields, the aim is to create a new paradigm of cooperative innovation in production, education, and research, thereby enhancing the biomedical and health strategies in Hengqin and Macao.
