The China National Pharmaceutical Group Life Health Research Institute (Zhuhai Hengqin) Co, Ltd and the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone Health Center were unveiled on Feb 28 in Hengqin, Guangdong province.

Liu Jingzhen, chairman of China National Pharmaceutical Group Co, Ltd (Sinopharm), attended the unveiling ceremony and delivered a speech. 

Liu emphasized that the establishment of the life health research institute and health center signifies Sinopharm's steadfast commitment to supporting the moderate diversification of Macao's economy and participating in the construction of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone. This demonstrates a tangible integration into the zone and a practical measure to promote its high-quality growth. 

Serving as a major technological innovation platform for the group, the institute will expedite the cultivation of new productive forces in fields such as biosynthesis, microbial resource utilization in the food industry, new food resources and functional ingredients. It will enhance the industry's scientific and technological capabilities and make significant contributions to advancing the construction of research and development system for China's modern life health industry. 

Liu said Sinopharm currently operates nearly 100 medical and healthcare bases covering over 60 cities in 20 provinces nationwide. The new health center integrates the group's full life cycle, industrial chain and ecological circle resources, forming a benchmark base for comprehensive medical and healthcare services for all ages and cycles. 

Moving forward, it will leverage the role of central enterprises, enhance effective service supply in medical and healthcare, elderly care and more, construct a comprehensive industrial cluster to meet the cooperation zone's healthcare needs and contribute Sinopharm's strength to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This initiative aims to support the long-term prosperity and stability of Macao and better integrate it into the national development agenda.

The event was attended by representatives from Hengqin Life Insurance Co Ltd, and Equa Health's Doctors Group, as well as key figures from Sinopharm's headquarters and its subsidiaries.
