Beijing holds seminar on cooperation, development of China’s vaccine industry in BRI countries

The Seminar on International Cooperation and Development of China’s Vaccine Industry in "Belt and Road" Countries was held in Beijing from May 7 to 20.

This event, hosted by China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOC) and jointly organized by the Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO) of the MOC and China National Pharmaceutical Group Co Ltd (Sinopharm)’s subsidiary China Sinopharm International Corporation (Sinopharm International), marks a significant step in implementing the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and a practical measure for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

The seminar, which lasted for 14 days, brought together 36 participants from 10 countries and international organizations to engage in various activities, including lectures, on-site teaching and discussions and exchanges.

At the opening ceremony, Chen Runyun, vice-president of the AIBO, emphasized that the program provides an excellent opportunity for participants to gain an in-depth understanding of China's history, culture, economic and social development and the path of Chinese modernization.

He commended Sinopharm as a leading pharmaceutical and healthcare enterprise with global scale and comprehensive strength, and he spoke highly of the extensive international cooperation, including vaccine projects, conducted by Sinopharm International.

Chen encouraged participants to make the most of this learning opportunity to get a closer look at the vaccine production process and the Chinese vaccine industry, thereby promoting international cooperation and exchanges in the medical and health sector.

Zhou Song, secretary of the Party committee and chairman of Sinopharm International, said that Sinopharm has actively served national strategies and has long been committed to improving the accessibility of pharmaceutical and healthcare products and services.

Sinopharm International will ensure the successful organization of this seminar and contribute to the development of the global healthcare industry, Zhou added.

The deputy director of the Maternal and Child Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Laos, spoke on behalf of the participants, expressing gratitude to the Chinese government and enterprises for their long-term assistance and support of developing countries such as Laos. She hoped that through the seminar, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the development of China's vaccine industry and enhance the medical and health services in their respective countries and regions.

In recent years, Sinopharm International has implemented 55 medical aid and human resource development projects, training over 2,000 people from 102 countries, regions and international organizations. These efforts have significantly contributed to building a global community of health for all.
