In 1982, China National Pharmaceutical Foreign Trade Corporation, or Sinopharm Foreign Trade, collaborated with the American company Bristol-Myers Squibb to establish Sino-American Shanghai Squibb Pharmaceuticals Ltd, the first Sino-US pharmaceutical joint venture in China.
